Sisters

Hey there, I'm sure everyone is curious about the story of my sister... So here it is!
Growing up I always knew I had a half sister. My parents were married less than a year and i was born a month or more after the divorce was final. Shortly after my father 'Ed Kadlec' remarried, and had another daughter. Cassandra. At My Grandma and Grandpa Kadlec's house I remember the wall that had all the grand kids pictures and her picture was up on that wall. When i was 13/14 years old my father and I wrote letters and at that time he did not know where Cassie was, I always asked about her and wanted to find her. I remember when I was a teenager my mom even talked with a private detective to see if we could locate her. And we never were able too.
Ed Kadlec died on April 29th, 2014, it was the day before his 60th Birthday. I barely knew my father, I have three memories, one at age 4, age 14/15 and two years ago at age 30. I have 4 letters. And as of recently I have seen or own 3 maybe 4 pictures of us together. Ed lived in Chippewa falls, WI.
From what I can piece together over the last week and a half of conversation with Cassie is this.

Cassie's Aunt who lives in WI contacted her on April 30th Wednesday. She told her about Ed Kadlec's obituary in the paper and online. Cassie read it, http://www.horanfuneralhome.com/fh/obituaries/obituary.cfm?o_id=2500884&fh_id=14462 and it listed that he had TWO daughters 'Natalie and Cassandra'. After reading this Cassie called her mom and asked about this 'Natalie' and she found out that day on April 30, 2014 that 'Natalie' was her half sister. ( Cassie and I are only 21 months apart ) That her father had been married and had a child before marrying her mother

Back to my side of the story. I was talking with my Aunt Bonnie, she is the oldest sibling in the Kadlec family. and Our Grandma is 87 years old and it takes a lot for her to leave the nursing home. So it was decided that we as the Kadlec family would have our own memorial for Ed on Thursday evening at Grandma's nursing home here in Minnesota. Ed's most recent wife's family were also having an open memorial in WI on Friday.

Cassie attended the WI memorial on Friday, hoping to meet all of her new found family. she met Our fathers wife Carol's family, Carol passed away last summer. But our father was with her for about 25 years from what I understand. But the Kadlec family was not there. Carol's daughters gave Cassie, Aunt Bonnie's number, to contact her.

On Sunday May 4th, Cassie contacted Aunt Bonnie, and Bonnie called me, and told me Cassie Text her.. and wanted to get to know the family and meet us. And i sat down right there in the middle of my kitchen.. in shock and awe and amazement. 'Could this really be happening.. is my sister finally found.. she found us?.. ' I was SHOCKED! Bonnie gave Cassie my number. and SHE TEXT ME, MY SISTER TEXT ME! .. my heart was beating so fast, I couldn't believe the day had finally arrived. We friended each other on Facebook and then talked on the phone for awhile.
While talking on the phone, Cassie said so you do nails? and I said yes. She asked where do you work? I said at a salon in shakopee. She said, at The Pearl Salon? ... I was like.. um.. yes?? . And she goes on to say that her friend Jessie's brother died in a motorcycle accident, he was hit by a drunk driver ( http://www.twincities.com/ci_23571288/motorcyclist-killed-apple-valley-identified ) and she went to a benefit for his family last summer, and won a gift certificate and products from a silent action.. for YOU GUESSED IT 'THE PEARL SALON' .. for a gel polish manicure... and she had recently called to see if there was an appointment, and that weekend there wasn't one available.. So after listening to her story.. I realize it all sounds super familiar.. Nick and I were at that Benefit, because Nick's Cousin is married to Jessie.. who's brother passed away. So not only did Cassie have a gift certificate for my salon, but last summer we were in the same building at the same benefit and didn't even know it.. SO CRAZY. So long story short, she came in to the salon on Monday May 5th, 2014 to use her gift certificate and to meet me HER SISTER!, I took an hour break after her appt and Nick came up to the salon and brought Stella. And we all got to spend some time together. Tuesday I brought her to see our Grandma Kadlec and she met our Aunt Bonnie. The mystery of Cassandra Kadlec has been solved and she is here now, and we are all so very welcoming and happy to have her!

We get along quite well, we have similar personalities, we are both sarcastic and a little off at times. It is really cool to have found each other and I am very anxious to build a relationship, which wont be hard cause we are both very open and honest and not too worried about stepping on any toes. :) Love her already.
